Michael A. Smith, MD, is the John Norton Chair in Thoracic Surgery and Lung Transplantation Professor of Surgery, Creighton University Medical School-Phoenix Campus Chief of General Thoracic Surgery and Surgical Director Lung Transplantation. Dr. Smith is a board certified cardiothoracic surgeon. Dr. Smith’s expertise includes lung disease, lung transplantation, lung cancer, esophageal disease and lung volume reduction surgery. He is a member of the International Society of Heart/ Lung Transplant (ISHLT), Western Thoracic Surgical Association (WTSA), Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) and the General Thoracic Surgical Club (GTSC) to name a few. Dr. Smith received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. He completed his residency in general surgery and his fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Smith’s research interests include: lung transplantation, esophageal disease and lung cancer. Dr. Smith sees patients in our Phoenix and West Valley offices.
